Dr. George Rigos is a Research Director in IMBBC-HCMR (http://www.imbbc.hcmr.gr/user/173/) and the head of the Pathobiology & Pharmacokinetics Fish Lab. His PhD in Fish Pharmacology (2003) was obtained from the Kingston University (UK). An MSc in Aquaculture (1996) and an upgrade B.Sc. in Marine Biology (1993) were both obtained from the University of Guelph, Canada. He also holds a B.Sc. degree (1988) from the Technological Education Institute in Aquaculture, Missolonghi, Greece. He has a total of more than 25 years of research experience in various themes, mainly including fish diseases, therapy and fish safety and the assessment of environmental burden from drugs used in fish medicine. During this period, he has established a strong collaboration with the industry locally and abroad, particularly in the field of consumer and environmental welfare.
He has managed as coordinator/scientific principle (7) and participated (32) in several research projects funded by the European Union and national sources. At the same time, he has written 77 publications in prestigious international scientific journals (IF296; 29h-index, 58i10-index). He is also the author of book chapters on consumer safety, legislation and therapy, and fish pathology, while he was awarded as International Scientist 2007, 2008 from the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England. His participation in international scientific journals involves editing roles and reviewing tasks (>100 evaluations in 28 journals).
During his scientific career, he has been involved in the evaluation process of 9 researchers & professors and of 7 European/International projects (centrally/remotely). He has also supervised / co-supervised 4 PhD, 10 MSc and 1 BSc theses. His academic expertise also includes invited speeches and lectures in graduated programs hosted in national or international level.
